About Therapy
Therapy is a joint endeavour: we all grow, and change, in connection to others. I will be attentive to everything you have to say without judgement, which can bring relief in itself. Sometimes I will gently challenge you; sometimes the process itself will be challenging. I won’t tell you what you should be feeling or take you through a pre-prescribed plan.
In psychodynamic psychotherapy, we explore your thoughts and feelings, and understand how the past exerts an effect on your present. I may be able to help you observe old patterns you are maintaining that have ceased to be helpful or are causing distress and difficulties in your relationships with others.
People bring a range of issues to talking therapy including: abandonment, anxiety, bereavement and loss, change and times of transition, depression, estrangement, feelings including anger, guilt, shame and worthlessness, illness, managing uncertainty, meaninglessness, overwhelm, suicidal feelings, trauma, loneliness and isolation, addiction, adoption, body and self-image anxieties, separations and divorce, career or work anxieties and pressures including redundancy, creative block, cultural dislocation, disability, eating disorders, eco-anxiety, emotional, physical or sexual harassment or abuse, family conflicts, gender and sexual diversity, infidelity, infertility and IVF, kink, LGBTQ+, monogamy and non-monogamy, pregnancy, childbirth and post-natal depression, later-life issues, self-harm, sex work, sibling relationships, racism, discrimination and exclusion, religious and faith issues.
